Instant On and Off. The factory incandescent tail lights and rear turn signals on the GMC Sierra 1500 illuminate in a slow glow, taking a moment to turn off and on. A modern LED upgrade provides instant response, which can alert other drivers on the road earlier, while also providing a modern LED appearance. This instant activation adds a modern and distinct look to the Sierra 1500.

Brightness. All Diode Dynamics LED lighting is rated with accurate, measured lumen figures, not calculations or guesses. We test the true output in-house, and provide you the real numbers to compare.

Correct Color. Since the lens on your tail light housing is red, you'll see that we only offer a red color option, which is correct to SAE/DOT "red" requirements. Red is the correct emitter color for maximum turn signal output on your Sierra 1500.

Reduced Load. When it comes to LED upgrades, you'd think the lower power draw would be a great feature! However, the Sierra 1500 looks for a specific power draw from the turn signals. LEDs will make the vehicle think a bulb has gone out, due to lower power draw. This causes a "hyperblink," or fast-blinking turn signal, which can be corrected with LED Resistors or an LED Flasher.

The most basic, tried-and-true method to correct hyperblinking is to add resistors. Since a 6-ohm resistor uses about the same power as a standard turn signal bulb, these can be used on any vehicle, but does require tapping factory signals. One resistor is needed to replace each turn signal bulb.

You may have also heard of flasher relays, which is the actual module that determines flash speed. On some vehicles, it can be replaced with one that is designed for LED power levels. However, on many newer vehicles these modules cannot be replaced. If it's possible to replace the flasher on the Sierra 1500, you'll see one listed above. Only one flasher is needed per vehicle, for both front and rear LED turn signal conversions.

Reliability. Diode Dynamics LEDs are built with constant-current inductive circuitry, along with transient suppression. They are tested by our engineering team with a device that replicates years of voltage spikes, like the ones generated each time the alternator starts and stops on your Sierra 1500. This is what kills most LED bulbs over time, but just like factory components, Diode Dynamics LEDs are designed with built-in circuit protection. While more expensive than simple bulbs, this allows Diode Dynamics LEDs to last for years, with no flickering or failure.

Note: Please check that the vehicle doesn't use factory LEDs before ordering. For the 2021+ model year, the Elevation trim level uses two bulbs for the taillight and rear turn location.

Note: Resistors are a universal product and can be installed on any vehicle. It is recommend to use one resistor per turn signal/reverse/tail light bulb that is switched to LED. If you are installing both front and rear turn signal bulbs, it is recommend to use four total resistors.
